He earned his medical degree from the Higher Institute of Medical Sciences in Santiago de Cuba and completed psychiatry residency training in New York City and at Jackson Memorial Hospital/Miami VA in Miami. He is licensed in Florida and certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
